Most people who play the lottery are not rich, and most of them don\u2019t spend much on their tickets. Moreover, the people who play lotteries are disproportionately low-income and less educated. In addition, they are largely male and nonwhite. The result is that, when it comes to the overall amount of money that lottery revenues raise for state governments, they are really a drop in the bucket.<\/p>\n
