The Casino Experience

This is the world that Martin Scorsese brings to life in Casino, which in some respects dials Goodfellas up to 11. The movie is about a faction of mob-controlled Vegas casinos, and it chronicles how these gangsters used the city’s gambling machine to funnel millions into the pockets of their own mafia bosses back home.

From the start, Casino is a fascinating look at how these casinos operate. Almost every aspect of the gambling experience is designed to lead players into spending more money. For example, many casinos lack clocks and windows to keep gamblers from realizing how much time is passing. They also serve free alcohol to attract customers and get them to play longer.
